Hypnosis The art and science of hypnosis, developed by Milton Erickson, work at deeper levels than are normally tapped during a typical therapy session. Most of us try to make changes by trying to change our conscious thoughts. Instead hypnosis changes the subconscious and unconscious thoughts that actually run our lives. For example, if you consciously tell yourself over and over not to eat certain unhealthy foods, but your subconscious is telling you how good they are, your subconscious is likely to win. It is a part of the mind that rules over the conscious state. By working with hypnosis, changes are made in the parts of the mind where the decisions are actually made. In addition, there are often traumatic events, destructive mental programming, or regrets about our lives that keep us from living in the present and creating a successful future. Hypnosis can help heal these events so that the rest of life becomes one in which new choices are not only possible, but are highly likely. By relaxing in a state of hypnosis, you can decide which changes you want to make now.
